Chairmen of supreme court from SCO states to discuss cooperate issues in St. Petersburg

DUSHANBE, April 10, Asia-Plus – Chairman of Tajikistan’s Supreme Court, Nusratullo Abdulloyev, is taking part at a session of heads of supreme court from member nations of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization that opened in Russia’s St. Petersburg today.   

The source at the Tajik Supreme Court said that the meeting has discussed issues related criminal proceedings on charges of extremism, drug trafficking, as well as use of the generally accepted principles and norms of international law national courts of general jurisdiction.  

According to the source, the tree-day session that will close in Moscow on April 12 is expected to result in signing of a document. 

The meeting participants include senior representatives from supreme courts of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan as well as deputy director of Russia’s federal drug control service.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) is an intergovernmental


organization, which was founded on June 4, 2001 by the leaders of China, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.  Except for Uzbekistan, the other countries had been members of the Shanghai Five; after the inclusion of Uzbekistan in 2001, the members renamed the organization.
