DUSHANBE, December 31, 2014, Asia-Plus – Upon the proposal of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs 35 out-of-country polling stations will be set up in 27 countries to facilitate out-of-country voting in the 2015 parliamentary elections scheduled for March 1, 2015.

According to the Central Commission for Elections and Referenda, the precinct election commissions (PECs) will established at 27 embassies and eight general consulates of Tajikistan.

“The out-of-country polling stations will be set up at the Tajik embassies Vienna (Austria), Abu Dhabi (United Raba Emirates), Kabul (Afghanistan),  Minsk (Belarus), Brussels (Belgium), London (United Kingdom), Astana (Kazakhstan), Doha (Qatar), Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan), El Kuwait (Kuwait), Cairo (Egypt), Baku (Azerbaijan), Berlin (Germany), Islamabad (Pakistan), Moscow (Russia), Ankara (Turkey), Ashgabat (Turkmenistan), Kyiv (Ukraine), Paris (France), Beijing (China), Delhi (India), Geneva (Switzerland), Washington (United States), Tehran (Iran), Tashkent (Uzbekistan), Riyadh (Arabia Saudi),  and Tokyo (Japan) as well as in Tajik general consulates in Dubai (United Arab Emirates), Kunduz, Mazor-i Sharif and Fayzobod (Afghanistan), Ufa and Yekaterinburg (Russia), Almaty (Kazakhstan), and Istanbul (Turkey),” the source said.

Tajikistan’s Parliament (Majlisi Oli) has two chambers: the Assembly of Representatives (Majlisi Namoyandagon) and the National Assembly (Majlisi Milli).  Majlisi Namoyandagon has 63 members, elected for a five-year term in, 22 by proportional representation (party list) and 41 in single-seat constituencies.  Majlisi Milli has 33 members, 25 elected for a five-year term by local legislature (majlis) members and eight appointed by the president.
