DUSHANBE, May 25, Asia-Plus – Expansion of bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar was a major topic of a May 25 meeting of President Emomali Rahmon with Qatari Ambassador to Tajikistan Hamad bin Ali bin Jabbar al-Hinzab (with residence in Islamabad, Pakistan).
Hamad bin Ali bin Jabbar al-Hinzab Friday presented his credentials to President Rahmon.
According to presidential press service, in the course of the talks following the credentials-presenting ceremony Emomali Rahmon noted that Tajikistan attaches great significance to cooperation with Arab countries in its foreign policy.
Both sides vowed to boost bilateral economic cooperation, outlining sectors like hydropower, transport and communications, agriculture, light industry and tourism as areas of which could drive the bilateral economic cooperation between Tajikistan and Qatar.
Qatari diplomat confirmed readiness of Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifah al-Thani and other high-ranking Qatari state officials to visit Tajikistan for the purpose of promoting further development of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries. He noted that Qatari business delegation intends to visit Tajikistan in June to study priorities of economic cooperation.
During the meeting, the two also discussed international and regional issues being of mutual interest, declaring to peaceful settlement of conflicts in the Middle East.
