DUSHANBE, October 8, 215, Asia-Plus – China’s Norinco International Cooperation Ltd is expected to build a coal-powered heat and power plant in the Rasht district (eastern Tajikistan).
Norinco International Cooperation Ltd and Tajikistan’s State Committee on Investment and State-owned Property Management (GosKomInvest) will sign a relevant agreement on this subject on the sidelines of the 2015 Dushanbe International Business Forum that will take place here on October 14.
According to the GosKomInvest press center, the plant will consist of two power-generating boilers with a total capacity of 350 megawatt. The plant will generate up to 8.7 million kWh of electricity per day.
Established in 2001, Norinco International Cooperation Ltd (Norinco International) is a public listed company subordinate to China North Industries Corporation (NORINCO). Norinco International undertakes heavy construction projects including electric power plants, roads and bridges, and railways in Africa and the Middle East area. The Company also constructs exhibition centers and hospitals in China. Norinco produces and sells aluminum windows and doors as well.
Chinese companies have implemented a number of projects in Tajikistan’s energy sector.
Thus, China’s TBEA, which is one of the largest electrical manufacturing groups in China, is constructing the Dushanbe-2 combined heat and power (CHP) plant
The first line of this plant consisting of two units with a total capacity of 100 MW was introduced into operation on September 13, 2014. According to Barqi Tojik (national integrated power company), the second line of the Dushanbe-2 CHP plant consisting of two units with a total capacity of 300 MW and 270 gigacalories is expected to be introduced into operation in the autumn next year,
