The Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Medvedev was surprised by the large number of doctoral and Ph. D. theses undertaken last year by the dissertation councils in Tajikistan.

During the meeting with the participants of the forum “Development of higher education” in St. Petersburg, Medvedev noted that in the received "Review of the activities of the network of dissertation councils" were some of dissertation councils, including the number of doctoral and master's theses in 2015.

"I don’t want to say anything bad, but call it as a fact: on the first and second places are Tajik National University and the Academy of education of Tajikistan. Here is something to think about," – said the Russian Prime Minister.

Note that academic degrees in Tajikistan are awarded after the solutions of the expert councils of the Higher attestation Commission (HAC) under the Ministry of education and science of the Russian Federation.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Dissertation Council of Academy of education of Tajikistan Irina Karimova, commenting Medvedev's words said that all scientific works of the applicants are approving by the dissertation board. "Until now HAC has not returned any work. We are happy for that and in the future we will take all the measures so that the quality of scientific works has remained high," – she said.
