Media: Gulmurod Halimov became the military leader of ISIL

Date:

According to Iraqi media, fluent Tajik Colonel Gulmurod Нalimov was appointed military leader of the "Islamic state" group.

The portal аlsumaria.tv on Saturday, 3 September, citing a source in the security agencies in the Iraqi province of Nineveh said on condition of anonymity that the ISIL has appointed fugitive Tajik Colonel Gulmurod Halimov on the place of Abu Umar al-Shishani – killed military leader of this terrorist group, writes Radio "Ozodi".

According to the portal, ISIL has not officially announced about this appointment, because of fear of aerial bombardment of the international coalition forces led by the USA, as many commanders of ISIL were eliminated as a result of air attacks.

According the Iraqi portal source, most of the commanders of “Islamic state” base in Syria, and the commanders of ISIL in Nineveh considered to be minor and only a few commanders of the first rank are in this Iraqi province.

The terrorist network IS said in July this year that one of its leaders, Umar al-Shishani, nicknamed "Chechen", was killed in Iraq in the city of al-Shirkat during a raid by U.S. aircraft. The message was spread by the information resource Amaq, which is often used by IS group as a surrogate information service.

Information about the death of al-Shishani, known as the "Minister of war" of IS, was published in March by senior representatives of the defense Ministry.
