In January 2017, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan, including electrical power, amounted to 252.3 million U.S. dollars, which was 83 percent of the January 2016 level or 51.69 million U.S. dollars fewer, according the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

The trade balance last month was negative and amounted to 113 million U.S. dollars.

Exports of goods last month amounted to 76 million U.S. dollars, which was 5 percent or 3.2 million USD more than in the same period last year.

Over the report period, imports of goods into the country amounted to 189 million U.S. dollars, which was nearly 23 percent or 50.8 million USD fewer than in January 2015.

Last year, an average monthly volume of Tajikistan’s imports amounted to more than 252 million U.S. dollars. 

In January 2016, major trading partners of Tajikistan were: Russia – more than 67 million USD; Kazakhstan – more than 61 million USD, and China – about 40 million USD.  

Tajikistan’s external trade turnover has been falling two years running. In 2016, the foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan amounted to 3.9296 billion U.S. dollars, which was 90.8 percent of the 2015 level or 370 million U.S. dollars fewer.   In 2015, the country’s external trade turnover amounted to 4.3 billion U.S. dollars, which was 18 percent or nearly one billion U.S. dollars less than in 2014.  In 2014, the external trade turnover of Tajikistan amounted to 5.319 billion U.S. dollars, which was 106.3 percent of the 2013 level or 314 million USD more.
