Merchants whose shops destroyed in Sunday’s blaze exempted from paying rents during two years

Date:

Merchants, whose shops were destroyed in a blaze that broke out at Dushanbe’s Korvon bazaar yesterday evening, have been exempted from paying rents during two years.

Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali today morning received a group of merchants, whose shops destroyed in Sunday’s blaze.

An official source at the Dushanbe’s mayor’s office says the mayor has ordered relevant municipal bodies to exempt merchants, whose shops were destroyed in Sunday’s blaze, from paying rents and lump sums (single payments) to the bazaar during two years.

By mayor’s order all the destroyed shops will be rehabilitated during twenty days, the source added.

Recall the blaze engulfed more than 480 square meters of the Korvon Bazaar late on July 2.  Twenty-eight firefighting crews were reportedly involved in extinguishing the blaze at the Korvon Bazaar.  No injured was reported.

The Interior Ministry says an electric short circuit was the cause of the fire that broke out the Korvon Bazaar yesterday evening.

Built in 2002, the Korvon Bazaar is Dushanbe’ biggest wholesale market.  It occupies the space of some 14,000 square meters.

This is at least the sixth fire to ravage Korvon in less than a decade.  The last fire was on September 2012.  A total damage caused to the market by the previous five blazes has been estimated at about 3.5 million U.S. dollars.
