Two teens who participated in a mass brawl in Dushanbe in January this year have been jailed.
The Dushanbe city court has sentenced two underage residents of Dushanbe’s 102nd and 103rd neighborhood units to five years in prison, Asomiddin Bobokhonzoda, the deputy head of the Dushanbe city court, told Asia-Plus in an interview.
According to him, two other teens were fined 5,000 somoni each.
All the four teens have reportedly been found guilty of hooliganism.
“Meanwhile, the remaining eleven defendants are still waiting for their sentences. Two of them are charged with murder,” the judge noted.
Recall, two teens – the 19-year-old Ibrohim Khojayev and the 18-year-old Somon Sharipov — were stabbed to death in a mass brawl that occurred between teenagers of Dushanbe’s 102nd and 103rd neighborhood units on January 2, 2017.
In all, more than 20 teenagers were detained, including school students. Criminal proceedings have reportedly been instituted against 15 persons.
In March, the investigation into the incident was extended for two months. “The investigation has to establish which of teens were armed with bats, which of them were armed with knives and which of them were armed with iron sticks and to determine a role of each of them in the brawl,” an official source at the Prosecutor’s General Office told Asia-Plus in an interview on May 10.
