Emomali Rahmon who is with the state visit in China, congratulated the people of the republic on the holiday of Idi Qurbon, which will be celebrated tomorrow.

In the televised address of the leader of Tajikistan, it is noted that the religious teaching of Islam, its principled idea, along with worship and humility, is also a source of courtesy and a great treasure trove of precepts and moral teachings.

"It always taught and preached benevolence and charity, condemned violence and excess", – the president says.

Emomali Rahmon notes that in the conditions of accelerated development of technology leading humanity to unprecedented discoveries and inventions, Tajiks also need to keep up with progress and through deep study of various sciences strive to expand and enrich the scientific and technical worldview as much as possible.

"Along with this, we are obliged to protect our national culture, of which religious values are also part, to mobilize them for the interests of society and the state. Our people, professing Islam, thanks to state independence and with an appreciation of the atmosphere of peace and stability, freely perform their traditional rites and meet Idi Qurbon and other holidays at ease", – is noted in the congratulatory message.

Emomali Rahmon separately dwelled on the recent amendments and additions to the law "On the regulation of traditions, celebrations and ceremonies in the Republic of Tajikistan".

According to the president, the purpose of the adopted changes and additions was to raise the standard of living of the people, especially poor families, they are called upon to perform rituals and celebrations in everyday life to alleviate their burdens and prevent waste and excess that, in some cases, are still present today.

The introduced changes and additions have relation also to religious holidays and provide for carrying out of holidays and mourning ceremonies without superfluous expenses.

"We should not turn holidays into weddings and pampered treats, banquets, but decorate spiritual dastarkhans and pay more attention to educational and moral aspects", – the president notes.

According to him, in the Idi Qurbon celebration, the population should not allow excess, but attach more importance to its spiritual values, such as blessing, helping orphans, disabled, needy, visiting parents, patients and mourners and other benefactions.
