Two skirmishes between Tajik border guards and Afghan drug smugglers have taken place along the Tajik-Afghan border in the Khatlon province, Muhammad Ulughkhojayev, a spokesman for the Main Border Guard Directorate at the State Committee for National Security (SCNS), told Asia-Plus in an interview on October 3.
According to him, the skirmishes took place in an area patrolled by the “Shouroobod” border unit (Shamsiddin-Shohin district).
After a short exchange of gunfire the trespassers were forced to return to Afghan territory. 76 kilograms of cannabis, 29 kilograms of hashish and two kilograms of raw opium were found on the spots, the spokesman said.
