MPs expected to discuss operations of Tajik-Chinese joint venture exempted from paying taxes

A regular sitting of Tajikistan’s lower house (Majlisi Namoyandagon) of parliament that will take place on November 30 is expected to discuss operations of the Tajik-Chinese JV Hua Jian and Gayur Industrial Ltd, an official source at the Majlisi Namoyandagon told Asia-Plus in an interview.

“MPs intend to discuss issues related to the company managers’ promise to create new jobs and organize production of building materials,” the source said.   

Recall, the cornerstone of the company operating in the Yovon was laid by President Emomali Rahmon on November 12, 2014.  A total cost of the project is 20 million U.S. dollars, including a 35-percent share of Tajikistan.    

By government’s resolution of May 27, 2015 the enterprise was exempted from paying taxes and customs duties.  A total amount of taxes and customs fees from paying which the company was exempted is 4.3 million U.S. dollars.   

On April 22, 2016, President Emomali Rahmon laid the cornerstone to the foundation of construction of two workshops for production of various paints and insulating materials.  The workshops are expected to create 150 new jobs.  The annual capacity of the workshop for the production of emulsion paints is 150 tons and the annual capacity of the workshop for production of insulating materials is 170,000 cubic meters.
