Asia-Plus Media Group has launched a special project for migrants – Migrant/Muhojir.

The project was launched today to coincide with International Migrants Day, which is observed in many countries on December 18.

We want our project (migrant.news.tj) and the project-related platforms created on social networks (Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/muhojir.migrant.tj, Odnoklassniki.ru —  https://www.ok.ru/muhojirtj.migrant.tj and Vkontaktehttps://vk.com/migranttj.) to be useful for contacts between our nationals working abroad and their relatives in the country.

Our website will make available information about how to make preparations for labor migration, where to study language and get a profession with good job opportunities, what to do while you are detained by police, how to place children into kindergarten or into school, etc.

International Migrants Day is an international day observed on December 18 as International Migrants Day appointed by the General Assembly of United Nations on December 4, 2000 taking into account the large and increasing number of migrants in the world.  On December 18, 1990, the General Assembly adopted the international convention on the protection of the rights of migrant workers and members of their families (resolution 45/158).

This day is observed in many countries, intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations through the dissemination of information on human rights and fundamental political freedoms of migrants, and through sharing of experiences and the design of actions to ensure the protection of migrants.

UN Secretary-General António Guterres notes, “Migration has always been with us.  Climate change, demographics, instability, growing inequalities, and aspirations for a better life, as well as unmet needs in labor markets, mean it is here to stay.  The answer is effective international cooperation in managing migration to ensure that its benefits are most widely distributed, and that the human rights of all concerned are properly protected.”

The theme for 2017 International Migrants Day is “Save Migration in a World on the Move.”

Migration draws increasing attention in the world nowadays.  Mixed with elements of unforeseeability, emergency, and complexity, the challenges and difficulties of international migration require enhanced cooperation and collective action among countries and regions.

On September 19, 2016 the United Nations General Assembly adopted a set of commitments during its first ever summit on large movements of refugees and migrants to enhance the protection of refugees and migrants. These commitments are known as the New York Declaration for Refugees and Migrants (NY Declaration).  The NY Declaration reaffirms the importance of the international protection regime and represents a commitment by Member States to strengthen and enhance mechanisms to protect people on the move.  It paves the way for the adoption of two new global compacts in 2018: the global compact on refugees and the global compact for safe, orderly and regular migration.
