More than 100 residents of Tajik-language villages in the Tashkent region have sent an open letter to the presidents of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan drawing their attention to the problem of shortage of teachers in local Tajik-language schools.
The letter has been published in one of recent issues of Uzbekistan’s Tajik-language newspaper Ovozi Tojik (Voice of Tajik).

“The Tajik and Uzbek authorities have failed to solve this problem completely,” Usmonov said.
Meanwhile, a source in the Tajik government says the authorities of the two countries are expected to study the issue of allocation student quotas ahead of an official visit of Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tajikistan scheduled for spring this year.
They will work out a government-to-government agreement on student exchange, the source said.
