Four persons were killed and two others were injured on February 17 as two cars collided in the Danghara district (Khatlon province).

According to the Interior Ministry’s website, BMW, driven by Farkhor resident Abdughaffor Majidov, went into oncoming traffic and collided with Mercedes, driven by Danghara resident Jahongir Kholmatov.

As a result of the collision, both drivers died on the spot, while their two passengers – Zebunisso Nazarova and Ilhom Sulaimonov – sustained serious injuries and died in hospital.

Two other passengers – Nurmahmad Eshmurodv and Sailigul Azimova – sustained various injuries and are currently undergoing medical treatment in the Danghara central district hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

According to the statistical data from the Interior Ministry Traffic Police Directorate, 1,285 traffic accidents were reported in Tajikistan last year; 395 people were killed and 1,357 others were injured in those accidents.
