Tajikistan and Kazakhstan have reportedly agreed to increase the number of weekly flights between their cities from 18 to 32.
Citing Kazakhstan’s Civil Aviation Committee, Kazakhstan’s online magazine Vlast reports negotiations between Kazakh airlines Air Astana and SCAT and Tajik air carriers Tajik Air and Somon Air have taken place in Dushanbe.
The negotiations reportedly resulted in signing of a protocol, under which the number of weekly flights between the counties will increase from 18 to 32.
Thus, the number of Almaty-Dushanbe flights will increase to 12 per week, the number of Astana-Dushanbe flights will increase to 6 per week, and the number of other weekly flights between the Kazakh cities of Astana, Almaty, Shimkent and Taraz and the Tajik cities of Dushanbe, khujand, Bokhtar (formerly Qurghon Teppa) and Kulob will increase to 14.
The two countries are reportedly also working over the issue of launching direct air communication between their regional airports.
