As part of his working visit to the northern Sughd province, President Emomali Rahmon, has given gifts to 100 orphans in Khujand, the capital of the province, according to the Tajik president’s official website. 

The gifts provided to orphans on the occasion of Navrouz holiday reportedly included suits, shoes and sweets.  

The meeting with orphans took place on March 30 and during the meeting, Emomali Rahmon, in particular, noted that there are 71,000 orphans living in Tajikistan and “all of them are under the care of the state.”

On the same day, Emomali Rahmon handed over keys to new apartments to ten vulnerable families in Khujand.
