Russia’s Security Council Secretary expected to visit Dushanbe today

Russia’s Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev is expected to pay visit to Tajikistan today. 

Dushanbe will be the first leg of his tour of Central Asia.  TASS reported yesterday that Nikolai Patrushev will visit Tajikistan and Uzbekistan from October 30-31.

On October 30, Patrushev will visit Dushanbe, and on October 31, he will visit Tashkent, according to TASS.

Russian official will hold consultations on security issues with his Tajik and Uzbek counterparts.  

Patrushev reportedly holds consultations on security issues with his counterparts from of the CIS member nations regularly. 

The Security Council of the Russian Federation (SCRF) is a consultative body of the Russian President that works out the President's decisions on national security affairs.  Composed of key ministers and agency heads and chaired by the President of Russia, the SCRF was established to be a forum for coordinating and integrating national security policy.  It is the successor of the Security Council of the USSR.

Nikolai Patrushev (born 11 July 1951) is a Russian politician and security and intelligence officer.  He served as Director of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) from 1999 to 2008, and he has been Secretary of the Security Council of Russia since 2008.
