Torrential rain on March 21 caused a mudslide that killed one resident of the Halqajar village in Khatlon’s Khuroson district and damaged about 200 houses in the village.

“Emergencies Committee has estimated the damage caused by the mudslide at 1.338 million somoni,” Rahmatullo Safarzoda, the head of the Khuroson district, told Asia-Plus in an interview. 

According to him, a 59-year-old resident of the Halqajar village Mirzoqul Rahmonqulov was killed by the mudslide.

Houses, roads and canals have been cleared of slurry.
