The possibility of resumption of regular flights between Tajikistan and Russia discussed in Moscow

Dushanbe Mayor Rustam Emomali, who is also Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament), yesterday met in Moscow with Aleksey Overchuk, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation also co-chairman of the Tajik-Russian Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economic Cooperation. 

According to the Majlisi Milli press center, the parties discussed state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the Russian Federation.

A special attention was reportedly given to issues related to labor migration under the coronavirus pandemic and resumption of regular air traffic between the two countries.  

Rustam Emomali, in particular, noted that the legal foundation of the bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia consists of nearly 300 interstate and interagency agreements and “the quality of implementation of them requires significant improvements.” 

The sides reported outlined the sectors like mining, processing industry, agriculture, light and food industries as areas that could drive the bilateral trade between the two countries.

It was noted that the two-way trade between Tajikistan and Russia has valued at 720 million U.S> dollars over the first eight months of this year, the Majlisi Milli press center said.
