Chairman of Ayni district court, Sharif Tursunzoda, have been detained on anticorruption officers for briery. He had worked in this position only four months.
According to information posted on the anticorruption agency’s official website, Tursunzoda demanded 15,000 somoni for exoneration of three violators.
He was reportedly caught red-handed while taking money from those violators.
Criminal proceedings have been instituted against the corrupt judge under the provisions of Article 319 of Tajikistan’s Penal Code – acceptance of bribe. If convicted, Tursunzoda could face five years in prison.
By president’s decree Sharif Tursunzoda was appointed the head of the Ayni district court only four months ago.
