President Emomali Rahmon held a meeting yesterday evening to discuss issues related to the socioeconomic situation in the country and preparations for the upcoming winter period, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Deputy prime ministers, senior representatives of President’s Executive Office, presidential advisers and senior representatives of relevant ministries and agencies participated in the meeting.

The meeting participants reportedly also discussed ways to mitigate effects of external factors on Tajikistan’s economy.  

The president ordered relevant bodies to take necessary measures to ensure adequate preparations for the winter, provide the population and social facilities with electricity and heat, and provide stocks of food products and fuel.  

The head of state reportedly also gave specific instructions to comply with the country’s law on observing national traditions and rituals and urge the population to save and rationally use food products due to the current situation in society, climate change, drought and shortage of water.
