Tajik delegation participates in the 42nd session of the ICESCO Executive Council in Cairo

Azamsho Sharifi, the Adviser to the President for International Affairs, heading a Tajik delegation participated in the 42nd session of the Executive Council of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) that took place in Cairo, Egypt on December 6.  

The Tajik MFA information department says the draft agenda for the 14th session of the General Conference of the Organization, the report of the Executive Report on ICESCO’s Activities for 2021, the Organization’s Financial Reports for 2021, ICESCO’s report on Member States contributions for 2021, proposals to improve ICESCO’s financial sustainability, as well as the Draft Two-Year Action Plan and Budget for 2022-2023, and a number of administrative and legal documents and proposals, were adopted during the session.   

Representatives of 49 countries participated in the session.  The session participants, in particular, noted that no nation can achieve scientific progress and civilized development, without education, science, practical educational experiences and societal behavioral values.

Founded in May 1979, the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) with 54 Member States is a specialized organization that operates under the aegis of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and is concerned with fields of education, science, culture and communication in Islamic countries in order to support and strengthen relations among Member States.  The Organization's headquarters is located in Rabat, Morocco.

ICESCO's objectives are to strengthen and promote cooperation among the Member States in the fields of education, science, culture and communication; consolidate understanding among peoples inside and outside Member State; contribute to world peace and security through various means; publicize the true image of Islam and Islamic culture; promote dialogue among civilizations, cultures and religions; encourage cultural interaction and foster cultural diversity in the Member States, while preserving cultural identity and intellectual integrity.
