Speaking at the summit, Tajik President Rahmon focused on new effective resolution, additional joint efforts to promote India-Central Asia ties, according to the Tajik president’s official website.

Tajik leader noted that achievements made by the parties over the past 30 years “vividly demonstrate as a continuous intention of the parties devotes to the comprehensive deepening of our inter-state ties in the areas of mutual interest.”

Tajik leader, in particular noted that the countries of Central Asia and India are connected by historical traditions of good relations and mutual respect, the roots of which go back to the mist of time.

Talking about the historic ties between Tajikistan and India, Emomali Rahmon noted that the unique traditions continued serving today as a reliable foundation, the dynamic development of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Tajik leader called the current level of friendly relations and mutual political trust, the growing process of cooperation between the two countries in the trade and economic sphere, in the fields of culture and security, as the main results of this period.

Tajik leader noted that Tajikistan was interested in launching joint ventures in the areas of food and light industry, especially in the textile, chemical, medical industries, pharmaceuticals, processing of precious and semi-precious stones.

Meanwhile, India’s Asian News International (ANI) says relations between India and Tajikistan have been traditionally close and cardia.  Since the establishment of diplomatic relations on August 28, 1992, regular high-level visits between the two countries have further cemented the bilateral ties.  Deep-rooted historical and cultural linkages have reportedly helped expand and widen the relationship to a new level.

Cooperation between the two countries encompasses all aspects of human endeavor with a special focus military and defense ties, according to ANI.

There have been six visits of President Emomali Rahmon to India.  Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Tajikistan 2015.  Both nations reportedly have strong cooperation in defense.  There is also India-Tajikistan Friendship Hospital, ANI says, adding that India and Tajikistan share very similar positions in Afghanistan.
