Kyrgyz president calls on local media outlets not to insult leaders of neighboring countries

Date:

Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov has promised Kyrgyz citizens to put an end to the issue of delimitation and demarcation of border with neighboring countries until the end of his presidency.

In a statement posted on Facebook on April 13, Japarov says, “Indeed, there is a border problem.  The problem that has not been solved for 30 years now requires great care and foresight.  Negotiations are under way.  There are many not delineated kilometers.  It will take time.  God willing, I intend to resolve this issue before the end of my presidency.”

Japarov also called on Kyrgyzstan’s journalist and bloggers not to insult leaders of neighboring countries.

“When it comes to conflict issues with neighboring states, don’t let yourselves disseminate video and photo materials distorting information and insulting the leaders of these countries.  This is not in line with ethical standards. By doing so, you make the situation worse and provoke a quarrel between two nations,” Kyrgyz president said.

Sadyr Japarov addressed the people of Kyrgyzstan after the latest violence along the Kyrgyz-Tajik border that occurred on April 12.
