Taliban want to purchase one million barrels of oil from Russia.  Kommersant says Taliban Industry and Trade Minister Nuriddin Azizi said this in an interview with the Russian state0run news agency RIA Novosti.

Azizi reportedly stressed that Taliban are considering the option of barter trade if the Russian side is interested in some products from Afghanistan in exchange for energy resources.

In June, during the International Economic Forum in St. Petersburg, the head of the Taliban’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry said that they wanted to buy 5,000 tons of oil and two million tons of grain from Russia.

Taliban representatives reportedly arrived in Moscow for talks on Sunday, August 14.
