On Saturday March 11, Prime Minister Qohir Rasoulzoda visited a number of districts in the Kulob region of the southern province of Khatlon.

The state-run news agency Khovar says the main purpose of the visit was for the prime minister to get acquainted with operation of pumping stations and rehabilitation of flood protection embankment in the area.

In Kulob and Vose districts, the prime minister visited pumping stations and got acquainted with the progress of rehabilitation of the river bank protection works on Yokhsou and Surkhob rivers.  

In Hamadoni district, Rasoulzoda got acquainted with operation of pumping stations and got acquainted with the progress of rehabilitation of flood protection embankment on the Panj River.  

To provide irrigation water to farming units in Hamadoni, Farkhor and Vose districts construction of a sedimentary reservoir on an area of 36 hectares is going on.  

Besides, the prime minister visited the renovated pumping stations in Urtabuz area, which supply water to nearly 5,200 hectares of lands. 

In Farkhor district, farmers have planted cotton on an area of 9,650 hectares.  

The prime minister was also presented with the project aiming to provide electricity to settlements in Khatlon province.  It was noted that 64 villages in Shamsiddin-Shohin, Farkhor and Hamadoni districts will be provided with electricity.  

In Farkhor district, Rasoulzoda also attended an official opening ceremony of a new school that will accommodate 960 pupils in one shift.
