The Dushanbe Police Directorate says parents of 2,150 children will be punished for child neglect and irresponsibility in upbringing their children.
During raids made by Dushanbe Police Directorate Juvenile Department over the first five months of this year, 2,150 minor children engaged in vagrancy, begging, washing cars, street vending and carrying goods at bazaars have been revealed in the city.
The Dushanbe Police Directorate added that administrative proceedings have been instituted against their parents for Failure to fulfill the duties of guardianship, education and upbringing of minors (Article 90 of Tajikistan’s Administrative Code).
The article stipulates that failure to fulfill the duties of guardianship, education and upbringing of minors entails a warning or a fine in the amount of three to seven calculating indicators (estimates). The current calculating indicator amounts to 68.00 somonis.
Recall, Tajikistan adopted the law on holding parents responsible for their children’s actions and education in 2011.
