The number of robbery, human trafficking, kidnapping and rape cases sharply increases in Tajikistan

Over the first six months of this year,  11,162 crimes have been reported in Tajikistan, which is 7.0 percent fewer than in the same period last year ((based on data from the Interior Ministry of Tajikistan), according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

Of those 11,262 crimes, 9,380 crimes (80.8 percent) have reportedly been revealed by the Interior Ministry and 2,232 crimes (19.2 percent) have been revealed by other law enforcement agencies.

2,497 serious crimes have been reported over the reporting period, reported, which was 11.6 percent less than in the same period last year.     

In January-June this year, 34 cases of human trafficking have been reported in the country, which is 26 cases more than in the same period last year (a 4.2-fold increase).

The number of reported cases of robbery has increased by 50 percent over the same-six month period (34 reported cases against 22 cases reported in January-June last year).

Compared to January-June last year there was 16.7 percent increase in the number of reported kidnaping cases (7 reported cases against 6 cases reported in January-June last year).

The number of reported rape and rape attempt cases has increased 13.6 percent over the first six months of this year (25 reported cases against 22 cases reported in January-June last year).

666 reported cases of hooliganism have been reported in Tajikistan over the first six months of this year, which is 45 cases more than in the same period last year (a 7.2 percent increase).  

Compared to January-June last year the number of reported drug-related crimes has increased 1.8 times (630 reported cases against 350 cases reported in January-June last year).

The number of thefts reported has decreased by 28.1 percent (2,229 reported cases against 3,101 cases reported in January-June last year), including burglary – by 56.6 percent (326 reported cases against 752 cases reported in January-June last year). 

Meanwhile the number of reported cases of murders and attempted murders has decreased 38.5 percent over the same six month period (24 reported cases against 39 cases reported in January-June last year).

Over the first six months of this year, 1,757 economic crimes have been reported in Tajikistan, which is 102 cases more than in the same period last year (a 6.2 percent increase).       

The number of bribery cases reported in the country over the first six months has increased by 3.8 percent (54 reported cases against 52 cases reported in January-June last year).  

69.9 percent of all the crimes reported in January-June this year have been solved compared to 70.9 percent in January-June last year.
