’s Ministry of Justice intends to present its resolution on five bills regulating activity of media soon, Minister of Justice, Khalifabobo Homidov, announced at a news conference in

on July 24.  

According to Khalifabobo Homidov, the bills on making amendments to some media laws have been submitted for consideration to the government by

’s Association of Independent Electronic Media (TajANESMI).   

The minister noted changes and addenda had been proposed to the RT Laws “On the Press and Other Media”, “On TV and Radio-broadcasting”, and “On Advertisement”, as well as


Tajikistan


’s Criminal Code.  “Besides, they have submitted a new bill on economic support for district (city) newspapers and district (city) TV and radio organizations,” Mr. Homidov said.  

“In particular, they propose to exclude Article 135, providing for penalty for libel, spread of false information known to be unfounded blackening reputation of other person, and Article 136, providing for penalty for insulting honor and dignity of other persons, from Tajikistan’s Criminal Code,” the minister said.
