The Republic sold stones and metals worth over $1.1 billion in the past year. The export of precious and semi-precious metals and stones by Tajikistan in 2023 amounted to over $1.1 billion, which is 2.2 times more compared to 2022, according to the country's statistical agency. The share of this product's export in the country's total export volume last year was 46.6%.

In total, the republic exported goods and products worth over $2.4 billion, which is 14.3% more than in 2022. The country's export structure also includes a relatively high share of mineral products (cement, ores and concentrates, coal, electricity, etc.), non-precious metals and products thereof (primary aluminum and products from it), textile materials, and products thereof.

Meanwhile, last year the republic imported goods and products worth about $5.9 billion. This is 13.8% more compared to 2022. Imports were dominated by mineral products (oil and oil products, liquefied gas, coal, electricity, etc.), machinery and equipment, non-precious metals and products thereof, and products of the chemical industry.

The total foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan in 2023 amounted to over $8.3 billion, which is 13.9% more than the previous year. The trade balance deficit (excess of imports over exports) amounted to more than $3.4 billion.

In the past year, the Republic had trade relations with 111 countries worldwide. The country's main trading partners remain Russia (over $2.9 billion) and China ($1.5 billion). Switzerland (over $1.3 billion) also entered the top three main partners, pushing Kazakhstan (over $1.1 billion) to the fourth place due to a significant increase in the import of Tajik precious metals.
