Tajikistan-Uzbekistan bilateral trade reportedly exceeds 500 million U.S. dollars

Over the first eleven months of this year, the bilateral trade between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan has valued at about 503 million U.S. dollars, which is 26.7 percent more than in the same period last year, according to the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan.

This reportedly consisted of Tajikistan’s exports to Uzbekistan estimated at about 167 million U.S. dollars (33.2 percent of the bilateral trade) and Tajikistan’s imports from Uzbekistan worth almost 336 million U.S. dollars (66.8 percent).

Over the reporting period, Tajikistan’s exports to Uzbekistan have included primary aluminum, electric power, cotton fiber, ores, cement, unprocessed leather, cocoons, raw silk (the yarn freshly reeled from raw filaments), various fabric, alcohol drinks, carpets, and so forth.

Tajikistan’s imports from Uzbekistan have included finished textile products, natural gas, mineral fertilizers, plastics, shoes, non-ferrous metals, ceramic products, electrical and mechanical equipment.

Meanwhile, some media outlets, citing Uzbekistan’s State Committee on Statistics, say Tajikistan ranks sixth among countries with a high share of Uzbekistan’s exports.  Over the first eleven months of this year, Tajikistan’s imports from Uzbekistan have reportedly valued at more than 406 million U.S. dollars.
