Amid restrictions and pressure on migrants in Russia, Tajikistan is striving to expand labor migration to other countries.  However, according to experts, the efforts made to diversify migration remain inadequate.

Each year, more than 1 million Tajik citizens travel to the Russian Federation seeking better employment opportunities.

Meanwhile, the number of Tajiks traveling for seasonal work to other countries, such as South Korea, Qatar, and the United Kingdom, is significantly lower.

Tajik citizens are mainly recruited for seasonal work in European and Asian countries, particularly in the United Kingdom and South Korea.

Migration statistics, however, indicate that efforts to prepare Tajiks for employment abroad have not yet yielded the desired results.

Asia-Plus’s reporters visited the Adult Education Center in Dushanbe, where citizens are trained for work in the United Kingdom and South Korea.

The center offers instruction in six foreign languages and various professions.  It operates 38 branches and 20 representative offices in cities and districts across the country.  The average monthly tuition fee for students is 150.00 somonis.

For more details about this center, watch our video report.
