Tajikistan, Russia to jointly train personnel for Tajikistan’s energy sector

Tajikistan will use experience of Russian higher educational institutions while training personnel for its energy sector.  Issues related to educational and scientific cooperation between the two countries were discussed at the international conference entitled “Engineering Research, Innovations and Investment in Energy and Industrial Sectors” that took place in Bokhtar, the capital of Khatlon province, last month.

Representatives of a number of Russian higher educational institutions, including the Tolyatti State University, participated in the conference.

Organized by the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan and the Tajik Energy Institute, the conference was reportedly focused on the prospects of international academic mobility of students and teachers, implementation of network education programs, holding of joint scientific-research works, etc.

In these matters Tajikistan and Russia have been partners for many years.  Russia regularly allocates student quotas to Tajikistan.  Thus, Russia last year granted 750 seats in its universities to Tajik nationals, and this year, Russia allocated 902 seats in its universities to citizens of Tajikistan.

According to expert estimates, more than 30,000 Tajik students are currently studying at universities in the Russian Federation.
