DUSHANBE, January 9, Asia-Plus — On Monday January 9, the Dushanbe police directorate held a meeting to discussed the results of work carried out by the Dushanbe police last year, the Dushanbe police directorate press service reported. 

Jaloliddin Sadriddinov, chief spokesman for the Dushanbe police directorate, has told Asia-Plus that 3,205 crimes were reported in the Tajik capital last year, which is 247 cases fewer compared to 2004.  2.749 crimes were solved and the crime detection rate amounted to 87.1 percent, according to Sadriddinov.   

During the meeting it was noted that more than 107 kilograms of drugs were intercepted in Dushanbe last year.  Besides, officers of the Dushanbe police directorate confiscated 67 sub-machine-guns “Kalashnikov”, 29 pistols, six machine-guns, 67 grenades and a large amount of bullets of different caliber.  

Officers of the department for detecting crimes of the previous years (1992-2005) solved 322 crimes last year.  The totaled included 14 killings and murder attempts, seven crimes that entailed serious bodily injury, five terrorist acts, 29 cases of banditry and robbery, and 162 cases of theft.
