DUHANBE, February 6, Asia-Plus  — On Saturday February 4, the Dushanbe mayor’s office hosted a news conference on the capital’s economic results in 2005. 

Deputy Dushanbe Mayor, Tohir Mirzoyev, speaking to journalists noted that based on current data, the regional gross domestic product of Dushanbe for 2005 was some 1.48 billion Somonis.  “Compared to 2004 the index of the volume of the gross domestic product (GDP) amounted to 105.6 percent in comparable prices,” Mirzoyev said, noting that compared to 2000 (400 million Somonis) the Dushanbe GDP for 2005 increased 3.5 times.    

 “Compared to indices of 2000 the revenue part of the city’s budget increased four times last year and amounted to almost 100 million Somonis,” the deputy Dushanbe mayor said, adding that an average monthly wage in Dushanbe amounted to 163.00 Somonis last year. 

On the activity of entrepreneurial structures in the capital city, Tohir Mirzoyev noted said the mayor’s office planned to take measures such as providing grants and loans to support them in future as well. 

The Dushanbe official noted: “Officially, only one dry-cleaner’s, one bathhouse and 23 hairdresser’s shops have to date operated in the Tajik capital that looks unnaturally.”  “Entrepreneurs should be registered with relevant bodies by themselves and pay taxes in accordance with law,” Mirzoyev said.
