DUSHANBE, September 6, 2010, Asia-Plus — Dushanbe International Airport has strengthened security measures to ensure safety of passengers.
The deputy chief of the transportation police station at the Dushanbe airport, Aziz Khojayev, says the security measures at the airport have been strengthened in connection with the complex situation in Tajikistan.
“Recent blasts in Tajikistan evoke serious concern; besides, the majority of the escaped prisoners have not yet bee recaptured,” noted Khojayev, “Therefore, the airport security service jointly with the transportation police station has taken additional measures to ensure maximum safety of flights.”
Under the introduced measures, persons seeing passengers off on flights are not allowed entering the airport hall, Mahmadyusuf Shodiyev, a spokesman for Dushanbe International Airport, said. “Only passengers undergoing inspection on flights may stay within the terminal,” he noted.
Kulob International Airport has also taken additional security measures. “Like the Dushanbe airport, we have also strengthened the airport security measures,” Qurbon Safarov, the deputy director of the Kulob airport, said.
Meanwhile, Khoushnoud Rahmatulloyev, a spokesman for the main border guard directorate within the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), says border troops have not yet introduced additional security measures at border crossing checkpoints.
