DUSHANBE, July 23, 2010, Asia-Plus – Fayzullo Bobokhonov, ex-prosecutor of Hisor district and the son of ex-Prosecutor-General Bobojon Bobokhonov, has been arrested in Dushanbe on suspicion of bribery and misuse of powers.
The source at the court of Dushanbe’s Firdavsi district said that at first, investigator from the Hisor prosecutor’s office had been detained on suspicion of accepting bribe in the amount of 20,000 U.S. dollars. “According to him, he shared the amount received with his chief – Fayzullo Bobokhonov,” said the source, “Investigation is currently checking his testimony.”
The source added that the court issued the warrant for the arrest of Fayzullo Bobokhonov on July 22.
Reliable sources at the Prosecutor-General’s Office and the Agency for State Financial Control and Combating Corruption have confirmed information about the detention of Fayzullo Bobokhonov. However, they stressed that the warrant for the arrest of Fayzullo Bobokhonov has not yet been issued. “This issue must be solved today,” the source at the anticorruption agency noted.
According to some sources, Fayzullo Bobokhonov graduated from the Faculty of Law at Tajik National University in 1999 and by order of Prosecutor-General Bobojon Bobokhonov he was appointed prosecutor of Hisor district in 2005. Fayzullo Bobokhonov was relieved of his post of prosecutor of Hisor district last spring shortly after his farther was dismissed from the post of chief prosecutor.
