DUSHANBE, May 6, 30210, Asia-Plus — As of April 30, 2010, the sale of shares in open joint-stock company (OJSC) NBO Roghun earned the government more than 816.285 million somoni (equivalent to more than 185.5 million U.S. dollar), according to the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
To raise funds to complete construction of the Roghun HPP the government started to sell shares in Roghun to people on January 6 this year. Tajikistan has reportedly issued 6 billion somoni (US$1.37 billion) worth of Roghun shares.
We will recall that Finance Minister Safarali Namjmiddinov told reporters on April 26 that it will soon be possible to buy and sell shares in Roghun on the open market. He said Tajikistan recently paid Ukraine’s Electrotyazhmash and Turboatom 72.5 million somoni for parts that it needs to complete the first two turbines of the power plant.
