DUSHANBE, April 21, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Number of thefts has increased in Tajikistan.

In a report released at a news conference in Dushanbe, the Deputy Interior Minister, Ramazon Rahimov, revealed on April 21 that 1,192 thefts have been registered in the country over the first three months of this year, which is 76 cases more than in the same period last year.

Tajik law enforcement authorities name deterioration of economic situation in the country as one of factors that contributed to the increase in the number of thefts in Tajikistan.

In all, 3,206 crimes have been registered in Tajikistan in January-March 2010, which is 127 crimes, or 3.8 percent, fewer than in the same period of 2009.
