DUSHANBE, April 3, 2010, Asia-Plus  — Tajik President Emomali Rahmon is paying a two-day state visit to Brunei Darussalam on April 3-4.

According to presidential press service, Tajik president will hold talks with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.

President Rahmon’s visit to Brunei Darussalam is expected to result in the signing of several documents expressing cooperation in various fields.

According to Brunei media, President Rahmon will be briefed on Brunei’s industry, diversification program, national development and business opportunities.  The Tajik president will also tour places of interest.

 We will recall that during his five-day state visit to Singapore prior to visiting Brunei, President had a meeting with President S R Nathan and Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.  The leaders expressed their support for more bilateral trade and investment, and to have more exchanges at the official level.  President Nathan was quoted in the Singaporean media saying, Singapore can serve as a platform for Tajikistan to engage the Southeast Asian region, and this was an opportunity he hoped the private sector would take advantage of.  During President Rahmon’s visit to Singapore, two documents were singed; namely, a joint communiqué and a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the MFAs of the two countries.
