DUSHANBE, October 29, 2009, Asia-Plus — The draft budget for 2010 submitted by the government for consideration to the parliament is anti-crisis in nature and its indicators reflect the economic and social development of the country, Olimjon Salimzoda, the head of the Majlisi Namoyandagon (Tajikistan’s lower chamber of parliament) Committee on International Affairs, Public Associations and Information, said in an interview with Asia-Plus.
“The budget is oriented to fulfillment of the government obligations on solving social issues, ensuring food security, developing energy and transportation sector, public infrastructures and ensuring the country’s security,” MP said.
According to him, the national budget for 2010 focuses on development of energy sector and the transportation-communication system. “Thus, budget earmarks more than 650 million somoni for implementation of the Roghun hydroelectricity project, which is 22 percent more than this year,” said Salimzoda, “I think parliamentarians will support this proposal of the government because construction of the Roghun hydroelectric power station is one of priorities of the country’s economic policy.”
MP said that the Majlisi Namoyandagon is scheduled to consider the draft national budget for 2010 in mid-November.
