DUSHANBE, January 21, 2010, Asia-Plus — On Wednesday January 20, Mahmadsaid Ubaidulloyev, Chairman of the Majlisi Milli (Tajikistan’s upper chamber of parliament), received Russian Ambassador to Tajikistan, Yuri Popov, at his request.
Shavkat Saidov, an aide to the Majlisi Milli speaker, said that in the course of the talk, Ubaidulloyev congratulated Popov on his appointment as Russian ambassador to Tajikistan and expressed confidence that traditionally amicable relations between Tajikistan and Russia would develop in the future as well.
The two agreed that Tajik-Russian inter-parliament forum “Tajikistan and Russia: Potential of Inter-region Cooperation” and parliamentary friendship groups could play an important role in promoting further development and strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the two countries in all fields, the aide noted.
