What did Iran reply?

U.S. President Donald Trump called Iran’s response to Washington’s peace proposals “completely unacceptable.” According to him, Tehran’s reaction did not satisfy him, but he did not disclose the details of his dissatisfaction.

“I have just read the response from the so-called ‘representatives of Iran.’ I do not like it — completely unacceptable!” — Trump wrote on Truth Social. Later in a comment to Axios, he again emphasized that he considers Iran’s letter “inappropriate.”

In Tehran, they responded by stating that the opinion of the “so-called president of the United States” does not matter to the Iranian side.

Citing its source, Tasnim news agency noted that negotiators should act solely in Iran’s interests, and Trump’s dissatisfaction only confirms the correctness of the chosen course.

Earlier, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported that Iran conveyed a multi-page conflict resolution plan to the U.S. through Pakistan.

According to the newspaper, the document proposes that Tehran initiate negotiations on the nuclear program, allowing for the partial opening of the Strait of Hormuz and the transfer of part of the high-enriched uranium reserves to a third country under certain guarantees from Washington.

At the same time, Tasnim news agency claims that the WSJ publication only partially reflects reality. According to them, Iran demands an immediate cessation of the war, lifting of the maritime blockade, removal of oil sanctions, and retention of control over the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf stated that the country’s armed forces are ready to respond harshly to any aggression.

In his address, published on the social network X, he emphasized that Iran is fully prepared for any developments.

“A mistaken strategy always leads to a mistaken result. Our forces are ready to give such a response to any aggression that it will serve as a lesson for all,” — wrote Ghalibaf.

According to him, Tehran’s proposal for resolving the conflict with the U.S. remains the only option. He noted that the only way is to recognize the rights of Iran as outlined in the 14-point proposal.

“There is no other choice but to recognize the rights of the Iranian people as outlined in the 14-point proposal. Any other approach will be completely fruitless, just a series of failures,” – stated Ghalibaf.

Despite the sharp statements from both sides, The Wall Street Journal writes that Iran and the U.S. may resume negotiations in Islamabad as early as this week.

At the same time, new dates for Trump’s visit to China — one of Iran’s key allies, Meduza writes.

Initially, the trip was planned for the period from March 31 to April 2, but in mid-March, Trump requested to postpone the visit amid the war with Iran. Now, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that the American leader will visit the country at the invitation of Xi Jinping from May 13 to 15.

In early April, Iran and the U.S. agreed to a ceasefire, which is still in place despite mutual attacks in the Strait of Hormuz area. Through intermediaries, Washington conveyed a 14-point proposal to Tehran for ending the war. According to the initiative, Iran must abandon the development of nuclear weapons in exchange for the gradual lifting of sanctions.
