KHUJAND, November 5, 2009, Asia-Plus  — Tajik border guard has reportedly been wounded at the border-crossing checkpoint Sarazm on the Tajik-Uzbek border in Sughd’s Panjakent district.

According the Sughd police directorate, the incident took place on November 4.  “The Panjakent police department received phone call yesterday that serviceman of border unit 2115 deployed in Panjakent, Viktor Andyulin, has been taken to the central district hospital with bullet wound,” said the source, “The preliminary investigation has established that Viktor Andyulin was wounded in the leg by Uzbek border guard.”

Uzbek border guard fired on Andyulin from assault rifle Kalashnikov because he allegedly crossed the border line.  Officers from the Panjakent prosecutor’s office and security service are investigating are investigating the incident.
