In Dushanbe, ahead of the celebration of the 35th anniversary of Tajikistan’s state independence, a new National Stadium, designed to accommodate 30,000 spectators, will be put into operation. Tajik President, Emomali Rahmon, announced this in a congratulatory message on the occasion of World Football Day, celebrated on May 25.

The head of state noted that the new sports facility will become “a festive gift from the government to athletes and football fans.”

According to Emomali Rahmon, today football in Tajikistan “is at a stage of sustainable development” and is not only a popular sport but also an important factor in the physical and spiritual upbringing of society, especially adolescents and youth.

He emphasized that the creation of football schools and academies, the implementation of educational programs, and the club licensing system in accordance with the requirements of the Asian Football Confederation contribute to improving the quality of athlete training.

According to him, due to its mass appeal, football has become an important tool for strengthening friendship, mutual understanding, and solidarity among peoples.

Emomali Rahmon also reminded that it was on Tajikistan’s initiative that World Football Day gained international recognition. He stated that this initiative strengthened the country’s authority on the international sports arena and demonstrated Tajikistan’s contribution to promoting such universal values as peace, solidarity, and constructive cooperation.

The president noted that after gaining independence, a new stage of football development began in Tajikistan. In 1992, the Football Federation of Tajikistan was established, and the country became a member of the International Federation of Football and the Asian Football Confederation.

Since then, the national team and teams of various age categories have regularly participated in international competitions and, as the head of state noted, have repeatedly represented Tajikistan with honor abroad.

Emomali Rahmon emphasized that the development of sports infrastructure, the construction of modern stadiums, the creation of specialized football schools, and the involvement of youth in sports are part of a consistent state policy to promote a healthy lifestyle and the development of mass sports.

The president expressed confidence that the country’s coaches, specialists, and football players will continue to raise the Tajikistan flag high on the international stage with their achievements and contribute to the popularization of sports among adolescents and youth.
