The Agency for Hydrometeorology of Tajikistan (Hydromet) reports that local mudflow phenomena are expected in several regions of the country from June 1 to June 5 due to precipitation.

According to meteorologists, the danger remains in places in the areas subordinate to the center, as well as in Khatlon and Sughd provinces, and in the western part of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, or GBAO.

Residents are advised to exercise caution, avoid being near riverbeds, canals, ravines, and mountain slopes, and, if possible, refrain from traveling to potentially dangerous areas.

It should be noted that in May, heavy rains and mudflows caused serious damage to the regions of Tajikistan.

At the end of May, in Vahdat, Romit, and Panjakent, mudflows and landslides damaged roads, irrigation channels, and power lines, prompting utility services to carry out extensive restoration work.

In early May, in Kulob, around 850 families were affected by flooding.

Every year, as a result of rainfall, especially in spring, mudflows occur in some regions of Tajikistan, causing significant damage to local residents and, in some cases, leading to loss of life. According to the Emergencies Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, eight people dies inthe country over the first four months (January-April) this year due to natural disasters.
