DUSHANBE, October 23, 2009, Asia-Plus — The Central Executive Committee of ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDPT) will hold meeting on October 24.
Speaking in an interview with Asia-Plus, Usmon Soleh, the head of the PDPT propagation and information department, said that the meeting would consider issues related to preparations for the upcoming parliamentary elections due in February 2010 and holding of the 10th congress of the party.
The People”s Democratic Party of Tajikistan was founded in 1993 and registered the same year. It is the biggest political party in Tajikistan, boasting some 120,000 registered members. The party chairman is President Emomali Rahmon. PDPT now controls some 70 percent of the seats in parliament.
