DUSHANBE, September 8, 2009, Asia-Plus  — A meeting of the coordination council of heads of competent bodies from member nations of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) for combating drug trafficking will be held in Kyrgyzstan on September 10, according to the CSTO Secretariat press service.

Installation of the unified database having information on trafficking in narcotics, psychotropic substances and precursors will be one of major topics of the meeting.

The meeting participants will also consider issues related to combating illicit drug trafficking, preparing joint actions against transnational criminal drug-trafficking groups and their leader in the framework of the Channel Operation, as well as coordinating mechanisms of participation of units of the financial intelligence services of member nations of the Eurasian group in countering legalization of criminal incomes and financing of terrorism within the framework of the mentioned Operation, the CSTO Secretariat said.

The counternarcotics agency heads will also discuss issues of exchange of information and joint training of personnel.
