KULOB, September 3, 2009, Asia-Plus — A new school to accommodate 640 pupils has opened its doors to schoolchildren in the administrative center of Khatlon’s Khovaling district.
The Khovaling chairman Safarali Rajabov told Asia-Plus that the old school had been in a very poor state and children had had to go to other schools in the district, located 5 to 10 kilometers of their houses.
“It has been decided to build a news school and the ministry of education has met us halfway, having allocated 400,000 somoni for construction of the new school,” said Rajabov, “Another 200,000 somoni have been provided from the Khatlon regional budget. Local budget has provided more than 50 somoni for construction of the new school.”
The Khovaling chairman added that the district had also renovated two schools and one lyceum this tear on its own.
